You do not need to follow every TradeSmart program or service in sequence. Your starting point should depend on where you are now, what you already know, and what evidence you have from your trading.

Choose the route that best describes your current situation.

The development route

I want to develop properly as a trader.

Choose this route if you are starting fresh, rebuilding your foundations, or know that you need stronger market-reading capability or a professional trading framework and process.

This route is appropriate for people who:

  • are serious beginners and want to learn trading from the foundations;
  • have learned strategies or setups but lack strong market-reading foundations;
  • want to understand price and market structure directly rather than rely primarily on signals or indicators;
  • need to develop a defined trading approach, a Trading Framework of Plan + Log + Journal with risk and operating rules, and a repeatable Trading Process;
  • are experienced but deliberately rebuilding their foundations or professional trading framework and process.

You do not need to complete the Trading Performance Diagnostic before starting the development route when the need for foundations or structured trader development is already clear.

Choose this route if you have been trading your own approach repeatedly and have enough evidence to examine what may be limiting your performance.

The Trading Performance Diagnostic examines seven areas:

The purpose is not to give everybody the same prescription. It is to identify the area most likely to need attention and determine the most appropriate next step.

That next step may be education, targeted practice, better evidence collection, risk work, live application, private implementation, a deeper assessment — or simply more evidence before making another change.

The Diagnostic is primarily for traders who have been executing their own approach repeatedly and have enough trades and records to examine a pattern.
